The GSA Shows were revealed at the winter pep rally held on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024. GSA enthusiasts will be treated to performances of “The Wizard of Oz” by the Red Team and “Legally Blonde” by the Black Team.

Senior overalls are Tessa Monrad (Red) and Sierra Medina (Black). Other Red Team overalls are Vallery Rios and Hailey Tuohy. For the Black squad, additional overalls are Michelle Tripetsky and Rebecca Johnson.

The Black Team, according to Medina, chose to base their show on the 2001 movie because they “thought it was very unique and different from other shows done in the past.” There were other reasons, of course, behind their choice.

“We believe that all ages will enjoy it due to the fact it was created not too long ago so kids and adults can appreciate the production,” Medina added. “The other Black team overalls and I are beyond excited and can’t wait for everyone to experience our show in the near future!”

“The Wizard of Oz,” an iconic film released in 1939, will be performed by the Red Team due to the fact that it has a far-reaching appeal as well and themes that resonate.

“We chose the “Wizard of Oz” because it has been our dream show since we were little,” Monrad said. “It’s filled with imagination, bravery and friendship.”
Medina, involved with GSA for the last three years, noted that “Legally Blonde” will be as expected: pink and girly. It saddens her that this will be her last year.
“I have enjoyed every minute of it,” she said. “It deeply saddens me and my co-senior overall, Michelle, that this is our last year but we know we are passing down our position and traditions into good hands.”
GSA, a highlight of every school year, has deep roots within the Boonton and Lincoln Park communities. Once a family member has been on a team, future participants must compete for the same color team.
Stephanie Monrad, Tessa’s mother, was on the Red Team whose theme was Care Bears. Rios’ sister, too, took part.
“We are so excited to be Red Team overalls this year and put on our dream show,” Monrad said. “We can’t wait to take everyone along the yellow brick road.”

The GSA shows will take place on May 29, 30 and 31, 2025.
