On Friday, October 4th, Boonton High School gathered the local school community for their annual tailgate. This event took place prior to the varsity football game against Morris Catholic High School, in which Boonton took a huge win (49-14). Many of our school’s clubs, organizations, and athletics were able to set up tables with different varieties of food, and they each had their own unique theme as well.
Participating organizations included Boonton Wrestling, ESL Conversation Club, French Club, Spanish Club, Cheerleading, AVID, FBLA, Girls Tennis, Key Club, TAG, Peer Leadership Council, and Wampus, with each individual table having their own creative touch. After a thorough evaluation, the Cheerleaders won Best Overall Winner with their fun Jungle themed table. The Creative Display award was given to Girls’ Soccer, the Most Original award went to TAG, who had a cute cookie monster theme, the Most Unique award went to Girls’ Tennis, and the Field Hockey girls, who did a space theme, took The Best Food award. For the French and Spanish clubs, members set out multiple foods from their native countries, essentially allowing people to experience new cultural foods. Not only did each table have various selections of really good food, as well as cool and fun themes, but they also included many fun games to essentially interact with those who came and give them a good time.
Although the cold weather had everyone on their tippy-toes, jumping around trying to get some kind of warmth (I speak from experience), this year’s tailgate was a great opportunity to bring everyone together for a night of fun.
