At the high school in the bustling town of Boonton, students have started a Multicultural Club. The objective is to celebrate the diverse backgrounds and traditions their peers and staff as well as foster a sense of unity and understanding.
The multicultural club is dedicated to celebrating the many cultures and traditions of the BHS student body. The mission is to promote respect, understanding, and appreciation for the rich tapestry of cultures that make up our community. The club aims to create a welcoming space where students can learn from one another and build lasting friendships.
“In addition to the Muslim Student Association, we involve all students and encourage them to learn about all cultures and about one another,” said Mrs. Hanafi, one of the group’s advisers and a math teacher. “We want everyone to appreciate those around them.”
By joining the Multicultural Club, students will have the opportunity to celebrate their heritages, learn about different cultures, and contribute to a more inclusive and harmonious school environment. This will spread into the Boonton and Lincoln Park communities.
One of the club’s featured events will take place in the spring. A map of the world will be displayed and everyone will be encouraged to put a marker on showing their cultural origins. Participants also will have the opportunity to learn some words from different cultures.
The two other club advisers are Ms. Buck, a Spanish teacher, and Ms. Demirors, a technology instructor.
The club is looking to attract new members. All, of course, are welcome.
