The New Jersey FBLA Leadership Conference, held from March 11-13 at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, provided opportunities for students to take part in workshops and competitions and to interact with members from other high schools.

Boonton High School was well represented, sending a record 13 students to the conference. Several of those students placed in competitions.

Charlie Hurd and Ashlee Sparer’s presentation was a social media campaign which focused on the Lincoln Park Animal Shelter.

Michael Ricca, Scott Soukup and Jeremy Dolan did a presentation on business management.

Asim Mohammed, Zaid Altamimi, Ashley Martinez and Ashley Suplicki participated in computer applications. Kaleigh Hughes took part in an introduction to business concepts. Chris Clemente, Lila Maggio and Mikaela Calderon were in agribusiness. Carmella Campanelli participated in business communication.

Throughout the FBLA Conference, students networked with new people, forcing them out of our comfort zones. Some activities were going to the arcade, hanging out in our rooms, eating at restaurants and even going to a gym.

There were many beneficial workshops on an abundance of topics to attend. These conferences help students keep an open mind and familiarize themselves with the world of business.

“It’s great that so many of our students advanced to the state level,” said Mrs. Laplaca, a FBLA adviser. “We’re hoping to have even more next year.”
