Life is full of choices. You can be optimistic or pessimistic. You can do your homework or go out with friends. You can buy the cappuccino or the latte. Despite all these decisions, there is a choice that should be made every day, especially during this Thanksgiving season. That is to be thankful.
“Why?” you might ask. Well, there are many reasons why.
One is that you are able to make the choice to be grateful. You are here, living, and while life is hard, there are so many good things about it that make it worthwhile to be thankful. Another is friendship. There are always people around who want a friend, and also want to be a friend. Find those people, and give them a reason to be thankful, too. In addition, thank your own friends for being supportive and let them know you care about them.
Now think of a time when you did something you wanted recognition for. That may have meant babysitting for a neighbor, helping a friend study, covering someone’s shift at work… Isn’t it nice to receive a “thanks” for that?
You are not alone in wanting “thanks” because that is something that everyone enjoys receiving. Giving thanks spreads joy, and who doesn’t want joy? So, this Thanksgiving, find someone who you need to thank, tell them to pass it on, and watch the happiness unfold.
A good reminder for all. Thanks, Glo, for sharing your thoughts. Proud of you!
